One of the NHS services that can really change your life is early screening for cancer. You can find out all about this service, who can benefit from it and how to organise a test on the NHS website.
Bowel cancer screening
NHS bowel cancer screening checks if you could have bowel cancer. Everyone aged 60 to 74 years who is registered with a GP and lives in England is automatically sent an NHS bowel cancer screening kit every 2 years. Please refer to the NHS website on bowel cancer screening for further information.
Cervical screening (smear test)
The NHS cervical screening programme in England is offered to people with a cervix aged from 25 to 64. Routine screening is offered every three years up to 49 years of age and every five years from 50 to 64 years of age. Depending on the result of the screen, people may be recalled earlier than these routine intervals.
We are currently running cervical screening clinics in our extended access clinics throughout the week, with patients being invited by the PCN, please contact your GP if you wish to book yours.
Breast cancer screening
Anyone registered with a GP will be invited for NHS breast screening every 3 years between the ages of 50 and 71. You’ll get a letter in the post inviting you, if you have not been contacted, contact your local breast screening service.
